The Blue Manna Crab is something that people love to eat. They can be caught from pots, by scooping them or by snorkeling for them. For the first time this year I gave snorkeling for them a go, and surprised myself. It’s a lot of fun, and with proper welding gloves you don’t get hurt either. There are a lot of these up and down the Rockingham Foreshore, at the right time of year.
The Woodman Point Boat Ramp is one of the better ramps in Perth. There are quite a few launching and retrieval lanes, plenty of parking and its well set up in general. We often use it when going Spearfishing west of Carnac Island.
Every time I go camping I seem to forget something. It doesn’t matter how many days beforehand that I make up a list, how many times I go over it and how I pack, something always seems to get left behind. However, there are a number of people that have camping so well arranged that they can hook up the trailer on a Friday afternoon, grab the cold food and be on the road an hour later. I decided to write this post to make a Camping Gear List that people can use as a base for what they want to take camping.
How does the weather effect what I take?
The weather plays a huge role in what you take camping. Starting off at the clothes that you take and working right through to the type of tent that you take, extras to avoid the rain, recovery devices for muddy weather, lighting for cooking and working and a huge range of other things are affected. Be sure to carefully consider what the weather is going to do, and make your decisions accordingly.
Clothes for Camping
Packing the right clothes is something that can take a bit of weather work. Have a look at the predicted weather for the dates that you are going away, and base the clothes that you take off that. Of course, take a little bit of the opposite temperature clothing so that you are prepared for whichever way the weather is going to go. Having a rain coat is a good idea if there is any chance of it raining. I have found that taking at least an extra set of clothes can be a lifesaver if you slip over in the mud or ruin a pair doing something else.

Toiletries for Camping
Toiletries are an important item to take camping, mainly for the people around you! Of course, you only need to take what is specific for the trip. If you aren’t able to have a shower or a wash then taking a towel is probably unnecessary. Likewise, most males will just go without having a shave, but it depends on the circumstances of your trip!

• GPS
• Laptop
• Chargers (for everything that you need!)

If you are lucky enough to own a boat, you should know how to use it safely. There is a lot of potential for things to go wrong in a boat, so Safe Boating becomes a major priority. There are a lot less boats than 4wd Vehicles, but accidents still happen with boats too.
Fishing at Carnac Island is a lot of fun, and if you get out there on a day where its as calm as the above photo you will have a lot of fun. You can easily get a good feed of tailor, herring, mackerel and various other species if you are a bit patient. WA Fishing is a lot of fun, but you need to find the right spots. Having a boat helps to increase your chance of getting fish ten times over though.
